Meet the team that is working to bring Yoga of 12-Step Recovery into the world

Nikki Myers – Founder

Nikki Myers developed Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) in 2004. An accomplished yoga therapist, teacher and somatic experiencing practitioner, Nikki is the founder of CITYOGA School of Yoga and Health in Indianapolis, IN. From her personal struggles with addiction, Nikki is quick to tell the world, “The 12-step program and Yoga saved my life – one is my lifeboat, the other my launching pad.”

Mysh Caldwell – Director of Operations

Mysh Caldwell, RYT-200, served as Director of Operations for CITYOGA School of Yoga and Health – one of the Midwest’s largest and most successful yoga schools – for nearly 10 years. Her keen wit, organizational skills and vision empower her to bring out the best in any collaborative undertaking.

Lori McCracken Zeswitz – Leader Advocate

Lori McCracken Zeswitz, RYT-200, is a woman in longterm recovery and certified Y12SR leader. She hosts regular meetings in her community and assists Y12SR Leaders in getting started and staying connected with Y12SR. She teaches restorative and hatha yoga in Virginia and North Carolina and is trained through Warriors At Ease to offer trauma-informed asana and pranayama for military active duty, retirees and their families. Lori holds a B.A. in public relations and co-owns Zed Therapeutic, a pain-management and muscle-recovery business for human, equine and canine clients.

Dana Walters – Y12SR Leadership Trainer

Dana Walters, ERYT-500, is co-founder of the nonprofit Project Yoga Richmond in Virginia, which offers free and reduced-cost classes to underserved populations. She owes a debt of gratitude to Nikki Myers and Rolf Gates as well as countless others on a recovery path. Dana has taught Yoga since 2008 and has been a space holder for Y12SR meetings since 2012. She has been featured in Yoga Journal as well as on The Huffington Post. She is honored to serve through Y12SR, both offering the Intensive online and traveling the east coast offering the wisdom of yoga coupled with the Twelve Step path through leadership. Her aim is to help others understand and apply this knowledge, which she has found to be vital in not only her own recovery and healing, but also in working with others.

Kyczy Hawk – Y12SR Leadership Trainer

Kyczy Hawk, E-RYT 500, teaches in treatment centers and yoga studios in San Jose, CA, and volunteers in the local justice system. She has also served on the staff of the Niroga Institute, teaching Yoga and Addiction Recovery. She specializes in somatic yoga techniques. Kyczy has taught Y12SR for over five years, and she has published several books and written for numerous magazines.

Julia Ruth Dillon – Marketing Assistant

Julia Ruth Dillon is an editor for a foundational 12-step organization and an RYT-500 with the New England School of Integrative Yoga, where she focused on emotional balance and recovery from alcoholism/addictions. Julia has taught in studio, outpatient rehab, hospital, corporate, and private settings, and holds a high honors degree in History & Literature from Harvard. She is deeply grateful to Nikki Myers and Y12SR for the opportunity to hold space for people in recovery on a regular basis.

Emily Walkup – Administrative Assistant

Emily Walkup is an avid seeker, yoga student & teacher with a deep passion for being of service to others, and making yoga accessible to everyone. Registered with Yoga Alliance (RYT-200) she teaches in the Atlanta area. She is a community partner of the Yoga and Body Image Coalition; and as a certified Y12SR leader, holds regular Y12SR meetings in her community.

Jacqui Sinclair – Y12SR Leadership Trainer

UK-based Jacqui Sinclair RYT500, BSc (Hons) Sports Science, is a registered sports massage therapist and has a particular interest in an integrative approach to yoga. She has been holding weekly Y12SR classes since 2013 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and she has initiated an ongoing study with Cambridge University to investigate the efficacy of yoga in recovery. Her aim is to share the integrative benefits of yoga to all, but also to reduce the stigma of addiction. Her gratitude for Nikki Myers, yoga, the 12-step path — and life in general! — is deep and enduring.

Lynn Gifford – Y12SR Leadership Trainer

Lynn Gifford, E-RYT 200, has been an active Y12SR spaceholder on Boston’s South Shore since 2010. She is deeply grateful for Nikki Myers’ leadership, inspiration, and motivation. She feels truly blessed to offer Y12SR’s combined somatic approach of yoga and the cognitive approach of 12-step programs in her community and recognizes the importance and value of being of service.

Melanie Haraldson – Y12SR Leadership Trainer

Melanie Haraldson, RYT-500, lost her father to suicide in 2013. Finding healing through the practice of yoga, she decided to make it her life’s work. Melanie teaches yoga in treatment centers throughout South Florida and has held monthly Y12SR meetings since 2014. Her purpose is to be of service, to hold space for those who suffer with addiction or who have been impacted by addiction, and to help others transform and thrive in their recovery.

Kimberly Thompson – Urban Outreach Project (UOP) Coordinator

Kimberly Thompson, RYT-200, is delighted to serve Y12SR in an organizational capacity. She brings a vast amount of experience in advertising and marketing, having worked with San Francisco Magazine, Bay Cable Advertising, Discovery Channel and Yellowbook. She is also the founder and spaceholder for White Flag Recovery Yoga, which has brought weekly Y12SR meetings and special events to a wide audience in Charleston, South Carolina. Kim believes Y12SR’s combination of 12 Steps with a somatic approach is the key to long-term recovery.
